Which raises an important point: Ofgem signed many customers over to Octopus without their consent and explicit choice, just prior to the energy market becoming a lot more tightly controlled and monopolised and it becoming much harder to switch to a supplier offering a cheaper deal. I used to switch supplier every year or so, then suddenly there were no better deals available on the comparison websites. So basically, people were stuck with Octopus, not by choice, but by circumstance and by Ofgem's opaque decision to make that company a preferred default for customers affected by smaller companies going bust. That is not a free market and Octopus is anything but representative of a free market, independent company, focussed only on giving customers good value for money and excellent service. It's a Net Zero/DEI stakeholder company in league with the state.
The market was actually fixed as an oligopoly because the govt gave all firms a maximum price they could charge. Naturally they all charged the max. Then the govt "windfall taxed" some of the money back into their coffers. I'm not saying this is fascism, but it's bloody close.
Thanks for the introduction to Red Lip Riots. Octopus is clearly very DEI/woke-inclined but as an accidental customer I have to say they are efficient and they don’t pester me to get a smart meter.
I used to enjoy a bit of light reief with Dr Who. It seems to have turned into "Who the Hell?"
Why can't they offer a lower price to faithful customers?
They sign their e-mails (I am a customer not by my choice, OFGEM did, when the gas price soared and loads of the suppliers went bust.)
